Tobi Amusan Cleared to Compete in 2024 Paris Olympics
Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan, the 100m hurdles world record holder, has been cleared to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) dismissed appeals filed by World Athletics (WA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Amusan was charged with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) in July 2023 for alleged whereabouts failures, but the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal (WADT) cleared her of any violation in August 2023.
CAS upheld the WADT decision, dismissing WA and WADA's appeals, which sought a two-year period of ineligibility. The CAS Panel acknowledged two filing failures but did not confirm a missed test, which would have constituted a third whereabouts failure.
Therefore, the CAS Panel concluded that Amusan did not commit an ADRV, confirming her eligibility to compete in the Olympics.
