Turkey has secured a spot in the knockout phase of Euro 2024, their first in 16 years, after a tense 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic on Wednesday. Despite being down to 10 men, the Czechs put up a valiant fight, but ultimately fell short.
Turkey, led by coach Vincenzo Montella, finished second in Group F behind Portugal, while the Czech Republic was eliminated from the tournament. In the group's other match, Georgia pulled off a stunning 2-0 upset over Portugal, advancing as one of the best third-placed teams and knocking out Hungary.
